Katrina did her undergraduate study in dance and biology respectively at TCU and Texas A&M University. She graduated in 1986 with a B.S. in Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University, HSC. Her experience includes acute care, burn and wound care, work hardening, orthopedics and manual therapy. Prior to coming to Hands on Physical Therapy, she had extensive manual therapy training with Ola Grimsby, P.T. and started her journey in Myofascial Training in 1987.
She treats numerous pelvic dysfunction diagnoses such as urinary and fecal incontinence, organ prolapses, all variations of pelvic pain, rectal pain, constipation, prostate problems, pre and post surgery candidates, post cancer treatment, post partum problems, coccydynia and pelvic muscle imbalances. Her experience also includes treating chronic pain, fibromyalgia, acute pain, headaches, complex medical problems and scar tissue adhesions.
Katrina has been with Hands on Physical Therapy since 1995 having taken over 250 hours of John Barnes Myofascial Release training, as well as completing skill enhancement training at the Myofascial Release treatment Center in Paoli, PA. She periodically assists in teaching some of these courses still. Through the Upledger Institute, she has taken classes for Cranio-sacral therapy, Somato-emotional Release and Lymphatic Drainage. She has 20 years experience in Male and Female Pelvic Floor Dysfunction with advanced training through the APTA, Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute, Gail Wetzler, PT and various other independent educators who are experienced therapists. She is finishing up the process of completing the CAPP (Certified Advanced Pelvic Professional) certification process.
She is empty nesting with her husband after they successfully got their three daughters through college!
Patrick joined the Hands On-Austin’s team in August of 2015 after moving to the Austin, TX area from Boston, MA. He has experience working in the Physical Therapy world since 2009. Patrick received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011, where he studied human anatomy & physiology and became an expert on the human body in motion with a pre-physical therapy focus. Patrick went on to receive his Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, MA in 2015 with a focus in Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
Prior to joining Hands On-Austin, Patrick gained experience treating in multiple diverse settings including skilled nursing facilities, hospital-based outpatient physical therapy, sports orthopedics, and manual therapy. Patrick brings a new young, and enthusiastic perspective to the team with his extensive background in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. His treatment style incorporates peripheral and spinal joint mobilizations, joint manipulations, manual traction, and advanced kinetic chain assessment to improve pain, mobility, function and quality of life. Patrick has special interest and advanced hands on training with the shoulder, foot & ankle complex, and spine.
In his free time, Patrick enjoys exploring all that the greater Austin area has to offer, including traveling, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and cycling. He also has a lot of interest in the culinary arts, and trying local wines and microbrews. Patrick has plans to further to clinical skills through completion of continuing education courses related to Myofascial Release Techniques, Advanced Manual Therapy, and to eventually become an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist to enhance his ability to assess and treat patients with musculoskeletal dysfunction.
Patricia has been part of Hands On’s treatment team for over 20 years. She has completed over 1000 hours of Continuing Education with John Barnes, Myofascial Release. She also has advanced training in postural correction, body mechanics correction, craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage therapy, reiki and hot stone massage.
This experience allows each treatment to be tailored to you, addressing your specific concerns while utilizing the whole body approach. Patricia provides massage therapy for health in an effective and compassionate manner. She is dedicated in supporting your health and wellness. She considers her therapy an art and life philosophy and would be honored to be a participant in your healthcare.
