Orthopedic Manual Therapy
The human body is designed to move. Combined with proper diet, rest and leisure, our movement patterns and activity levels must be in line with our physical abilities to keep us at our optimal health. When we push beyond our body’s limitations and use dysfunctional motor patterns or improper sequencing we set ourselves up for injury.
At Hands On, we evaluate the movement patterns then identify dysfunctions and apply manual therapy and therapeutic exercise interventions to address the dysfunction and restore movement harmony. Some of these techniques include myofascial release, dry needling, joint mobilizations, cupping, Kineseo-taping, manual traction, cranio-sacral therapy, lymph drainage and manual resistive exercises.

Movement for everyday life
Body movement patterns are specific to each person and need to be addressed for that specificity. Manual therapy is a clinical approach utilizing specific hands-on techniques including manipulation/mobilization to treat soft tissues and joint structures for the purpose of modulating pain; increasing range of motion (ROM); reducing or eliminating inflammation; inducing relaxation; promoting contractile and non-contractile tissue repair, extensibility, and/or stability; facilitating movement; and improving function. The therapist has to have a developed sense of palpation skills to be effective utilizing these techniques. That requires advanced training and practice.
The therapies offered at Hands On address the whole being and help identify areas of imbalance before they become problematic. They bring our awareness and attention back into the body and help restore optimal function.
