Women’s and Men’s Pelvic Floor Health
The physical therapists at Hands on Physical Therapy and Advanced Massage Therapy have advanced training in specific anatomy and treatment related to the female and male pelvis and the organs within it. Our training includes both didactic and hands on lab technique courses aimed at in depth and thorough evaluation and treatment of internal and external structures of the pelvic floor. Manual therapy techniques are the primary treatment tools utilized in our approach along with behavior modification, biofeedback, strengthening and/or stretching exercises and diet and lifestyle changes.
Our one on one approach allows us to identify postural and muscular imbalances, intra-abdominal pressure problems and strength deficits. We are very well trained in helping to manage pelvic pain conditions in both men and women.
Myofascial release techniques are the core of our treatment.

Women’s Health Testimonial
I was a new mom with a son I adored. I was excited about the journey we were on, but it had been two months and I was still having problems “down there”. Problems that doctors don’t tell you about. Problems that are taboo amongst friends. Intercourse was unbearable because it was painful; it often ended in my tears and my husband’s hurt ego.
I had such urgency to get to the bathroom and limited ability to hold it; I was having bladder and bowel accidents regularly. Once my cycle returned I was unable to use tampons; they either hurt too badly or fell out of place. I felt overwhelmed, embarrassed and broken. I placed the call to HOPT; it was a call that changed my life….
Men’s Health Testimonial
I am a 41 year old male, have been married for 13 years, and have two children under the age of 6. I’m sharing this because I feel it’s important for men, their partners, and family to become more educated and empowered to take care of themselves despite the challenges that our own perceptions, those of society, and the healthcare system put in our way. You may or may not identify with my issues, but I hope you’ll come away from this with a feeling that there are others out there like yourself, and you do have the ability to heal yourself.
I started my therapy at Hands On a little over a year ago after picking them off of a list that my urologist gave me….thank goodness I picked them! I went to my urologist because I’d been having unexplained perineal, scrotal, and penis pain for about a year. I’ve had a varicocele in my left scrotum for 20 years, so I’d chalked the pain up to that, but the normal ways I dealt with that pain had not been working, so I booked the appointment. In addition, my father was diagnosed (and successfully treated) with prostate cancer at a very young age. So I figured that going to a specialist to get checked in addition to my normal physicals wouldn’t be a bad idea. As I filled out the paperwork before my initial urologic appointment, I realized just how messed up I was…..
